HAUNI SMI - DIAMETER or CIRCUMFERENCE is designed to measure the diameter or circumference of cigarettes, filter rods and small cigars. For this, the laser head scans the product to produce the mean diameter of the sample.

Sodiscale is a high-speed automated scale for analyzing or sorting large quantities of cigarettes or filter rods. Options for sorting up to five customer-defined weights make it highly flexible. It has a top speed of 120 filter rods per minute.

The LM5S sidestream smoke machine is a member of our modular family of instruments specifically designed for production and laboratory environments while maintaining the smallest possible footprint and supporting the widest range of products.

The LM5S collects sidestream smoke following the procedures specified in ISO 20773 and ISO 20774. It offers a highly flexible platform for standard sidestream smoke analysis as well as for research smoking.

Combinations of mainstream, sidestream with or without impingers, Dewar flask options for cryogenic work, both in single and double arrangements are possible with the LM5S. It is also suitable for determining Hoffmann analyses in sidestream smoke.

The LM5S smokes in a sequential manner, meaning that the cigarettes can be lit with the fishtail chimneys in situ without affecting the smoking results.

Special infrared sensors used for endpoint detection trigger the machine to raise the chimneys automatically.


The 20-port LX20 is a member of our family of linear smoking machines. With unmatched flexibility, it provides capabilities previously not possible in a single smoking operation.

The LX20 can be set to run the same smoking regimens on all 20 ports at the same time, or to smoke different regimens on groups of 5 ports according to ISO 3308, ISO 207878, Canadian Intense, Massachusetts and Bidi regimes.

But the LX20’s flexibility does not end there, these regimens do not have to be grouped together on consecutive ports, they can be randomly spread across all 20 ports, so providing true randomized smoking as described in the smoking standards.

Many of the time-consuming tasks normally associated with linear smoking can be performed much faster with the LX20 thanks to simplified or automated setup operations.

Besides the standard glass fiber filter pad holders (CFP), all types of alternative trapping systems such as liquid traps and electrostatic traps can be connected to the machine. Gas collection bags are used for the gas collection phase. Integrated gas analyzers provide a fast and precise gas measurement.


The RM20H2 is a 20-port smoking machine that unites a variety of smoke traps with minimized dead volumes by using a standard rotary smoking system to determine both the traditional and special compounds in mainstream cigarette smoke.

The rotary smoking principle provides the most efficient platform for the collection of raw condensates and the gas phase for subsequent analysis. 

The RM20H2 meets the requirements of ISO 3308 and ISO 20778. It is not only suitable for routine smoking according to ISO 4387 and ISO 20779, it also allows for the smoking of fine-cut smoking articles (FCSAs) according to ISO 15592-3. It also meets the criteria of the Massachusetts and Health Canada methods.

By accommodating various trapping systems such as impingers, glass fiber filters and electrostatic precipitation traps, the RM20H2 is ideal for research and development use as well as for special applications.

Besides routine smoking applications, puff-by-puff smoking can also be performed with the RM20H2.


The RM20M is a rotary 20-port desktop smoking machine. Sample loading and butt extraction, as well as connecting the chosen trapping system and gas collection bag, are all done manually.

The smoking operation is controlled via the PM1 control module and is switched off automatically. Besides the standard glass fiber filters (CFP), all types of alternative trapping systems such as liquid traps and electrostatic traps can be connected to the machine.

The RM20M meets the requirements of ISO 3308 and ISO 20778 as well as the Massachusetts and Health Canada methods. It can be used for routine applications as well as for intense smoking operations. Fine-cut smoking articles (FCSAs) according to ISO 15592-3 can also be smoked.


The RM200A2 is designed to support routine smoking for the determination of nicotine, tar and CO and, optionally, NOx. The rotary smoking principle provides the most efficient platform for the collection of raw condensates.

The RM200A2 meets the requirements of ISO 3308 and ISO 20778. It is not only suitable for routine smoking according to ISO 4387 and ISO 20779, but also for smoking fine-cut smoking articles (FCSAs) according to ISO 15592-3. The conditions of the Massachusetts and Canada Intense methods are also met and preinstalled.

Capabilities and features that include the automatic handling of glass fiber filter holders (CFP) and cigarette cassettes, as well as an integrated scale and fully automated smoking operations from cigarette loading to butt extraction, enable the machine to perform 10 consecutive smoking operations without any operator intervention.

All common alternative trapping systems such as liquid traps and electrostatic traps can be connected to the machine as well.


The LM5C has five ports for the sequential smoking of all kinds of cigars and cigarillos. The machine meets all the requirements of CRM 64 (CORESTA Recommended Method).

It supports products of all diameter types. Besides the standard glass fiber filter pad holders (CFP), all types of alternative trapping systems such as liquid traps and electrostatic traps can be connected to the machine. Gas collection bags are used for gas collection.


The CReSS Pocket is a portable and autonomous version of the widely used CRess Lab (Clinical Research Support System for Laboratories) reference system. This battery-powered device automatically measures parameters or characteristics of smoking behavior, including date, time, start and end of smoking, puffs per cigarette, amount of cigarettes, and cigarette duration.

Researchers can collect behavioral data over several weeks in the smoker's natural environment. Measurements are collected and stored in the built-in memory for up to four weeks at a time. The stored data can be easily downloaded to a Windows® computer. An integrated verification process ensures the confidentiality and reliability of the data and restricts unauthorized access.


The Burghart Crease Tester CTB-02 was developed for fast, precise testing of restoring forces of the tongues in packaging cut outs.

The strength, production direction and moisture of the paper influence the restoring forces of the groove slit at the individual tongues of the packaging cut out.

Given the increasing production speed of todays packaging machines - and the resulting shorter curing time for glued surfaces of the packaging - this test can permit time lead prevention of production stoppages and loss in quality by the packaging springing open. 

The CTB-02 is designed for all commercially available packaging blanks of boxes for 10 to 25 cigarettes. The corresponding dimensions of a blank can be adjusted quickly by using prepared setting plates. Special formats, such as round corner packs, pillow packs or beveled edge packs can be measured as well.


Filling capacity is measured by placing 40 - 100 g of cut rag in the tobacco container (cylinder) and weighting it with 11.4 kg for 5 seconds. The height of the tobacco column then indicates the filling capacity (specific volume).

In addition to the filling capacity, the resilience of the tobacco can be examined. This is done by weighting the sample in the tobacco container twice and then measuring the height of the tobacco column at regular intervals.


The D61A2 is the next generation of measuring device for automatic determination of filling power and density of cut or expanded tobacco as well as of hardness of cigarettes and filter rods.

The instrument is also available in a version to cover the Chinese standard requirements for density and filling capacity measurements of cut and expanded tobacco.

The D61A2 offers new opportunities like the direct connection no your LIMS system and with the corresponding environment like a balance or a printer. To enhance data security and tractability a bar-code is available and the D61A2 can be equipped with biometric user identification scanner.

The measuring heads for filling power determination of tobacco and hardness determination of filter rods and cigarettes are easily interchangeable to support the flexibility of the D61A2.

Equipped with a modern control system, the D61A2 combines maximal user friendliness via touch screen and latest technical features for a state of the art high quality measurement device.


The E44 is a measuring device used to test the stability of plain and filter cigarette ends. The stability of the cigarette ends is determined by the strand length and the width of cut of the tobacco as well as by the dampness, packing density and the diameter of the cigarette.

To simulate the mechanical handling of cigarettes during the production process, the cigarettes are subjected to a rolling and falling motion in a "cigarette cage" for a certain period of time. The quantity of tobacco dropped out of the ends is an indication of the stability of the cigarette ends.


The F21 is a fully automatic measuring device for determining the moisture content of cut rag, cigarettes or tobacco foils.

The moisture content is calculated automatically by determining the differential weight of the sample before (gross) and after (net) weighing. The tobacco is dried in a convection process.

A sample container is filled with a quantity of tobacco, and the gross weight is calculated. Then the closed sample container is moved into the measuring device and dried with a hot air for a defined period of time. When the drying time is complete, the net weight is determined, then moisture is calculated.

The unit's functions are all automatic. The measuring parameters are entered via easy-to-use menus. Also, set drying programs are stored in the software.

Borgwaldt KC's F22 is a tabletop unit for determination of moisture content of cut tobacco.

Based on microwave technology the instrument measures samples with up to 20% moisture with its planar sensor. The touch screen interface allows very fast and easy operation. The integrated software does not only display the measurement results, but also creates trend charts. With its measurement speed of approx. 10 seconds per sample and compact design the F22 is ideal for efficient control and monitoring of the production process.


A member of the new family of desk top instruments to measure physical parameters on cigarettes, cigars and filter rods is the Hardness Tester H10.

This new generation of standalone instruments is designed to accommodate cigarettes, filter rods and machine made cigars with a length between 58 and 150 mm and diameters ranging from 5 to 10 mm. The entire family uses the same basic unit, while only the measuring module differs from instrument type to instrument type.

The instruments are equipped with a hopper offering a capacity of approx. 250 samples. The samples are separated automatically from the hopper and transported to the measurement position by a linear drive. Precise positioning of the sample in the measuring unit is therefore possible. After measurement the samples are transported to a 2-way sorting device. The instruments support single or group measurements.

The machines are controlled via touch screen PC and offer USB port and Ethernet connection for fast and easy data transmission and handling.

The H37 is the latest measuring device for automatic determination of group hardness of cigarettes and filter rods.

The H37 offers a new hopper system (up to 250 samples) which places the sample precisely on the sample belt to ensure always the correct measurement position. The transportation of the test specimens is totally controlled by using new designed sensors.

To determine hardness, 10 objects to be measured are weighted with two parallel measuring rods for a set time. The ratio of the remaining height of the objects and the original diameter indicates the hardness (Borgwaldt hardness). Samples with a length between 60 and 150 mm and diameters from 4, 5 to 9,0 can be handled by the H37.

Equipped with modern control system, the H37 is controlled via touch screen PC and offer USB port and Ethernet connection for fast and easy data transmission and handling. The graphical touch sensitive display, aids the user in the daily operation of the instrument from measurements, calibration, test results and interfacing to external outputs.


HUMIDIM is a high-speed oven that measures the moisture content of cut tobacco. It is an alternative to infrared or microwave technology.

Its robust design means minimal maintenance.
Ease of use minimizes errors.
Sample is automatically weighed before and after drying.
Automatic moisture correction according to the sample weight.

Two operating modes are available:

The electrostatic precipitation unit HV1 allows the user to collect smoke condensate and aerosols derived from cigarettes, cigars and next generation products like e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products (HTP’s). The collected condensate and aerosol is removed from the trap easily for further analytical treatment. It is especially recommended for the determination of metal residues.


The IP10 provides a semi-automated testing environment for the measurement of Low Ignition Propensity (LIP) conformance in accordance with the ASTM E 2187 and ISO 12863 standards.

The IP10’s automated testing ensures that evaluation of the pass or fail criteria are fully repeatable not just on a daily basis, but also week to week, user to user and location to location. With the automated lighting, measuring and recording of results, the workload on the operator is significant decreased so allowing more simultaneous tests to be performed by the same operator.

The IP10 is also integrated with the capability of performing burn-rate/free-burn testing, delivering an automated measurement in 0.1 second and 0.1mm resolutions.

The IP10 is able to run cigarettes with a diameter of 4.5mm to 9mm and a length of up to 120mm. The position of the termination point is displayed with a resolution of 0.1mm.  


Unit for sieve analysis according to the horizontal screening principle.

The unit is equipped with up to 8 sieve frames of varying mesh sizes and wire diameters. For sieve analysis, approx. 50 - 80 g of cut rag are screened for 3 - 5 minutes. The residue (fractions) is weighed in the various frames.


“LIP CAN” is a paper designed specially for the testing of Fire Standard Compliant (FSC) cigarettes. 

“LIP CAN”, developed by the company Tervakoski Oy located in Finland, meets the requirements of the test method ISO 12863/2010E and provides an alternative to Whatman No. 2 filter paper. 

A test performed by an independent accredited laboratory has shown that “LIP CAN” gave similar test results like Whatman No. 2 and no significant differences have occurred. Utilizing both substrates in parallel 400 samples of NIST Monitor SRM 1082 have been tested on each substrate. The overall result of full length burn rate was reported with 90,25% using Whatman No. 2 and 89,25% using LIP CAN. This is a difference of less than 1% which is in the nature of the test and the sample."

The LM20E is designed for the collection of aerosols of larger sample quantities from e-cigarettes, vaporizers and heated tobacco products (HTPs).

It offers the user 20 individual sample ports on a swiveling vaping bar, which enables the samples to be vaped at different angles to the horizontal position. In blocks of 4 channels each, the ports are connected to 5 high-performance PM1 piston pumps, which are controlled via a touchscreen user interface.

The entire process of the vaping run is coordinated by the control unit according to the master / slave principle.All single ports can be individually connected to the most common collection systems such as glass fiber filters, liquid traps (impingers) or electrostatic traps.


The semi automatic laser length measuring system LML-01 has been designed for the very accurate determination of the

  • total length of a cigarette or a filter rod (up to 20 each)
  • length of the tipping paper
  • position of the perforation holes
  • position of the brand name respectively the logo

The system allows for single measurements as well as for a series of measurements. The cigarettes are positioned on a special tray and scanned with a laser, which is mounted on an electronic vernier calliper. The vernier calliper is moved manually over the first cigarette and upon pressing the "DATA" key on the mini-processor the measured length is being printed or computed. The procedure is repeated for the remaining cigarettes.


The M10 is specifically designed to measure the moisture of individual filter rods, cigarettes and industry manufactured cigars using a ring-shaped non destructive microwave resonance technique.

The profile measurements are done in steps which are selectable by the user from a specimen length of 58mm to 150 mm. The M10 offers therewith a highly flexible “moisture and more” measurement platform. With its flexible sample hopper the M10 offers the measurement of a wide range of product diameters from 4,5 mm to 8,5 mm just by simple exchange of the sample drums.

At the heart of the M10 is the ring-shaped microwave resonator and a touch screen monitor user interface module that remains constant, irrelevant of the measurement (moisture or profiles) or the type of product being measured. Data configuration is as simple as a click of the menu to switch between the different options.

This is an automated scanner that uses microwave technology to analyze tobacco density profiles and moisture content along the entire tobacco rod. Suitable for laboratory and production environments.

The Shisha smoker is a linear one-port table top smoking machine. It is designed to standardize smoking of water pipe tobacco in order to obtain reproducible results. Several different parameters and regimes can be set to guide or vary the machine smoking process. In addition a standardized laboratory water pipe is available.

Beside the standard glass fibre filter pad holder (CFP) optionally all kind of alternative trapping systems like liquid traps and electrostatic traps can be connected to the machine. Gas collection is done using gas collection bags.


A device used to determine the puff profile in smoking machines in accordance with the requirements of the ISO standard 7210, paragraph 4. The Puff Recorder can record other puff profiles as well.

The measured values can also be used in the form of an Excel table in other MS Office applications. The Puff Recorder can be connected to all of the common Borgwaldt KC smoking machines.


A member of the new family of desk top instruments to measure physical parameters on cigarettes and filter rods is the Size Tester S10.

This new generation of standalone instruments is designed to accommodate cigarettes, filter rods and machine made cigars with a length between 58 and 150 mm and diameters ranging from 5 to 10 mm. This records ambulatory smoking behaviour allowing smokers to smoke in conditions where they feel at home. The unit records time, puff duration, volume of smoke inhaled and pressure drop, and calculates averages and standard deviations. It runs on software that allows profiles to be downloaded onto a PC. They can then be displayed and duplicated on a customized smoking machine or an SPD via the SPA-D smoking puff analyzer.

There are three authorization levels:

  • unrestricted level: laboratory has full access to all key data, for example, sample number, date and time, smoking frequency, group ID, smoker’s parameters, etc.
  • restricted level: access to smoker’s parameters (data can be downloaded).
  • smoker level: access to smoking data only.

Six different soap bubble flow meters are available as external accessories for the smoking machines:

  • Soap bubble flow meter 35 ml is used to set and test the puff volume during routine analysis. It is sufficient for the standard ISO puff volume of 35 ml.
  • With the soap bubble flow meter 40 - 80 ml a puff volume between 40 - 80 ml is measured, e.g. suitable to check the puff volume of Massachusetts and Canada regimes.
  • The 55ml soap bubble flow meter is used to set and test the puff volume during intense and for NGP analysis.
  • The soap bubble flow meter 150 ml is used as a testing instrument for puff volumes in the range of 0 - 150 ml. The measuring range of 150 ml is divided into four sub-ranges, ensuring high resolution and relative precision.
  • Beside that Borgwaldt KC also offer two soab bubble flow meters to check high volumina for example for Direct-to-lung or waterpipe analysis. The available measuring ranges are 300 - 620 ml and 480 - 1.000 ml.

The units are characterized by simple operation as well as quick and precise measurement.


This measures conventional cigarette papers providing reliable and consistent data speedily.

It also measures the printed bands of LIP paper typically used for self-extinguishing cigarettes. The paper diffusivity meter can accurately predict cigarette burn rates by measuring the gas diffusion capacity of cigarette paper when CO₂ diffuses through it.

Features
It can also ensure that burn rates for LIP paper are in line with international regulatory restrictions. Traditional methods for measuring paper porosity provide accurate air permeability readings, however they are not sufficiently precise for predicting cigarette burn rates.


The time counter is used as an external accessory to check puff duration, puff pause and piston sweep time on smoking machines as well as button activator timings on vaping machines. The German DAkkS confirms the accuracy of the time counter by a certificate.

The LM24E was developed to generate larger amounts of aerosol under reproducible conditions, which can be collected and/or made available for further experiments.

In both cases, the swiveling vaping bar allows the samples to be vaped at different angles to the horizontal position. The 24 individual ports can be equipped with aerosol detectors as well as product activation units and proven support options for samples of all sizes and formats of e-cigarettes, vaporizers and heated tobacco products (HTPs).

The entire vaping process is coordinated by the control unit according to the master/slave principle. The operator is guided by the self-explanatory software and informed as comprehensively as possible about the current status of the machine. The machine can be connected to central computer systems via an Ethernet interface in order to transfer testing schemes and result tables.


The LM1E enables the collection of aerosols from e-cigarettes, vaporizers and heated tobacco products (HTPs).

The LM1E is a member of our modular smoking and vaping machine series (MSM), but can also be used as a stand-alone device.

It consists of the PM1 high-performance piston pump unit with pre-installed software that enables samples to be registered, analyses to be carried out and the results to be displayed. The swiveling LM1E vaping bar offers one sample port with an automatic activation function and a freely adjustable support option for samples of all sizes and formats from e-cigarettes, vaporizers and heated tobacco products (HTPs). 

The LM1E meets all the requirements of ISO 20768.


The LM5E enables the collection of aerosols from all types of e-cigarettes, vaporizers and heated tobacco products (HTPs).

The LM5E is a member of our modular smoking and vaping machine series (MSM), but can also be used as a stand-alone device.

The LM5E-SF was specifically designed for use in research and development with a focus on the continuous collection of larger quantities of aerosols for further analysis.

It also meets all the requirements of ISO 20768 for analytical vaping machines while retaining all the benefits of the LM5E series.

The LM5E-SF allows the user to collect individual puff-by-puff sequences of one to five products of the same type on one trap, either individually or in defined puff blocks. This allows conclusions to be drawn about the composition of the aerosol over the entire generation interval and thus about the quantitative provision of aerosol components.


The LM5E-SP was specifically designed for use in research and development - with a focus on puff-by-puff analysis.

It enables the user to collect individual puffs from one to five individual products on individual filters. The LM5E-SP allows the filter holder to be changed very fast thanks to our proven quick-release mechanism. This allows conclusions to be drawn for up to five samples about the composition of the aerosol over the entire generation interval and thus about the quantitative provision of aerosol components.

The LM5E-SP also meets all the requirements of ISO 20768 for analytical vaping machines while retaining all the benefits of the LM5E series.


The LX20E3 offers 20 individually programmable vaping ports for testing larger sample quantities of e-cigarettes, vaporizers and heated tobacco products (HTPs). The vaping machine’s ports can be connected individually to all commonly used trapping systems such as glass fiber filters, liquid traps (impingers) or electrostatic traps.

Optionally, each port can be equipped with an aerosol detection unit to control the aerosol flow. Further options are integrated, freely adjustable sample activation units and sample holders in various designs to keep each test item in the ideal position.

The height-adjustable, swiveling vaping bar of the LX20E3 enables the user to vape at various angles of +/- 60° to the horizontal position to make handling easier for the user.

The entire vaping process is coordinated by the control unit according to the master/slave principle. The operator is guided by the self-explanatory software and informed as comprehensively as possible about the current status of the machine. The LX20E3 can be connected to central computer systems via an Ethernet interface in order to transfer vaping schedules and result tables.


The NGX10 has ten individually programmable vaping ports for testing larger sample quantities of e-cigarettes, vaporizers and heated tobacco products (HTPs).

The height-adjustable, swiveling vaping bar NGX10 offers ten ports with an automatic activation function and adjustable support option for all sizes and formats of e-cigarettes, vaporizers and heated tobacco products. 

All channels, from the port to the pump of the vaping machine can be connected individually to all common trapping systems such as Cambridge filter pads, liquid traps (impingers) or electrostatic separators.

Optionally, each port can be equipped with aerosol detection units to control the aerosol flow.

The NGX10 allows gas analyses to be performed by using gas collection bags. Integrated CO gas analyzers with different CO measuring ranges offer a flexible option in accordance with ISO 8454.

The NGX10 meets all the requirements of ISO 20768 and CRM 81 but also allows user-specific, different vaping regimens.


The CO/CO₂ analyzer can be integrated into smoking machines RM20H2, RM200A2 and RM400A2 and is controlled by the smoking machine’s software. It operates based on the NDIR method (non-dispersive infrared absorption) according to ISO 8454.

The analyzer collects the particle-free gas phase throughout the entire smoking or vaping cycle. Once the smoking or vaping process is complete, CO/CO₂ concentration is automatically measured by the analyzer. Of course, the analyzer can also be operated as an external module.


With the IGM inert gas module, users can monitor the influence of the absence of oxygen on the composition of the particle phase and its influence on the components of the gas phase, e.g. nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide when vaping heated tobacco products (HTPs).

The chamber is continuously flushed with an inert gas, e.g. nitrogen, in order to displace any oxygen and thus prevent combustion. Direct comparison of the qualitative and quantitative composition of the particle and gas phase allows a reliable conclusion to be drawn on the generation of aerosol by evaporation only without pyrolysis or combustion.


NO/NOx analyzers form an integrable direct analysis system based on the chemiluminescence method. The NO/NOx analyzer can measure smoke and aerosols without dilution or dosage. It can be used to determine the quantities of NO and NOx in every single puff, every cigarette or every tobacco heated product, or even throughout the entire smoking or vaping cycle.

The analyzer is available as an integrable option for the smoking machines RM20H2, RM200A2 and RM400A2. It can be operated as an external module with all other smoking and vaping machines.


A member of the desktop instrument family t measure physical parameters on cigarettes, cigars and filter rods is the A11-2 pressure drop tester.

The A11-2 is specially designed to measure draw resistance (pressure drop “PD”) in accordance with provisions of ISO 6565.

The A11-2 offers a highly flexible PD measurement platform. With its interchangeable measurement header the A11-2 can quickly change from measuring fully encapsulated filters rod PD and filter tip PD to cigarette. At the heart of the A11-2 instrument is a measurement module and a touch screen monitor user interface module that remains constant, irrelevant of the measurement head that is installed or the type of product being measured. The interface is a fully featured graphical user interface with network and printer connection configurations, local and central database storage, user access controls.

The special version, the A11-2Z, is also available for cigars.


The A11-2Z is a special version of the pressure drop tester A11-2.

The table desktop instrument is specially designed to measure draw resistance (pressure drop “PD”) of cigars in accordance with provisions of ISO 6565.

The A 11 Z-2 covers the PD measurements of cigars with a wide range of diameters from 7 up to 23 mm. The sample insertion depth varies from 9 mm to 35 mm for the standard cigar holders of 40mm length. Holders up to a length of 200mm are available to allow further insertion depths.

At the heart of the A11-2Z instrument is a measurement module and a touch screen monitor user interface module that remains constant, irrelevant of the measurement head that is installed or the type of product being measured.

The interface is a fully featured graphical user interface with network and printer connection configurations, local and central database storage, user access controls.


The vacuum pump is used to generate a puff by means of a piston vacuum pump to support the ignition process for ASTM test E2187 (test method for measuring the ignition strength of a cigarette).

The vacuum pump is used to generate a puff for lighting a cigarette.


Borgwaldt KC's A20 is a tabletop unit for the measurement of air permeability of standard cigarette paper, banded paper, tipping paper and plug-wrap paper.

The instrument is in compliance to ISO 2965 and can be used as a test equipment according to ISO 9000ff. Ideal for production monitoring and incoming material inspection.

The measuring range from 2 - 50.000 ml/min completely covers the range of commonly used papers. As a special feature the A20 is equipped with interchangeable LFE units. Consequently, the instrument can be ordered with LFEs covering the desired measuring range.

Beside the standard Measuring head 10 x 20 mm other measuring heads are available as an option.

Another option is the automatic paper tractor.


This measures the standard pressure drop of cigarillos and cigars.

Two options are available:

  • standalone with an internal vacuum pump.
  • with connection to a pneumatic air supply.

Functions
CIGARLAB has a foot pedal for controlling the rod feed into the measuring head. It has three interchangeable measuring heads for cigar diameters ranging from 6 mm to 24 mm.

The Burghart CMB-120 Cigarette Maker is a laboratory unit which has been designed to fill automatically cut tobacco samples into cigarette tubes (with or without filter). Cigarettes without filter produced on the CBM-120 comply with the ISO standard 15592-3 for the preparation and further analysis of fine cut tobacco (FCSA).

The CMB-120 turns cut tobacco samples into cigarettes in an automatic and trouble free process. The prepared tobacco blend is fed from the hopper by a plucking roller of the integrated weighing cell and portioned according to the stipulated weight. The plucking process is carried out up to three times to insure that the dose is absolutely precise (precision +/- 10 mg). Two cheek plates are shaping the tobacco rod - at the same time, the cigarette tube is selected by the tube lifter from the magazine, opened by vacuum and held in position. The actual filling process now begins. The special spiral feed system controls the tobacco density in the tube (e.g. for a reinforeced head). After approximately 1 1/4 minute production time, the cigarette leaves the unit and is placed in a collection tray.
